February 25 Updates
1. Crime update – Thanks again to the many neighbors who stepped up to offer tips to the police while they have been investigating the murder last week on Lake Desire. We are heartened to hear that it appears to be a targeted crime. They have arrested one suspect, and seek more suspects. 2. Lake Desire Meeting - Thursday, February 27th at 7pm (Clubhouse) Join us this Thursday night for our next Lake Desire Meeting at 7pm. We will discuss the events of last week, as well as confirm officers. Never been to a meeting? It would be great to see you! We usually have treats. Questions? Reply back to this email.
3. Lake Desire Aquatic Weed Control Steering Committee Meeting – Thursday, April 3, 7:00pm at the Clubhouse (18118 172nd Ave SE, Renton, WA 98058)
All who are interested are welcome.
We will discuss:
- Potential weed control strategies and scheduling for this coming summer, including potentially using herbicide to control the Eurasian watermilfoil
- Volunteer needs for this summer (sign posting, surveying, purple loosestrife flower removal in September)
- Training and transitioning the purple loosestrife spraying to local lake residences (how to get herbicide licenses, permits, equipment, herbicide, and training).
- Any other aquatic weed related questions or issues folks might have
The meeting will probably be an hour or so. No need to RSVP, but feel free to contact me if there is anything you want to add to the agenda. Looking forward to seeing you,

February 18 Updates
Lake Desire Residents:
1. Deadly shooting on Lake Desire – Sad news, neighbors. There was a deadly shooting on E Lake Desire Drive last night (17807 E Lake Desire). If any neighbors saw anything out of the ordinary or have information about cars coming and going from the area please contact King County at Christopher.johnson@kingcounty.gov. He is the investigator in the case, and is also interested in any neighbors who have security cameras that would have recorded sounds of gunshots about 8pm last night. Thank you.
2. Car Theft on W Lake Desire – There was a car stolen last Friday (2/14/14) on the West side of the lake. A neighbor started their car at 5:15am and went inside his house for 2 minutes and when he returned the car was gone. As of Monday the police had not located the vehicle.

February 2 Updates
Lake Desire Residents:
1. Mail stolen again last night – We have had another theft of mail in the cul de sac off of Woodside Drive last night. One neighbor has already reported it to the Sheriff.
2. Lake Desire Newsletter in your mailboxes – You should have received this week in your mailboxes the yearly Lake Desire hardcopy newsletter, which provides a recap of the year’s activities, dates for this year’s events, a voting ballot for Lake Desire Community Club officers, and an envelope for mailing back your ballot and membership form and payment. Our membership is voluntary, and at $20 per family/$15 for seniors we truly appreciate each and every contribution. These funds help us to keep the Clubhouse maintained, and provide resources for us to host events (Plant Swap, Easter Egg Hunt, Lake Desire Barbecue). Bellevue Arts Museum
Visit the Bellevue Arts Museum for free through your library! KCLS and BAM are partnering to offer complimentary admission to the museum’s popular exhibits. The museum pass allows one entry for two people, and is valid for use on the registration date. Passes are limited to one per family or group. BAM is located at 510 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004. Museum admission is free on the first Friday of every month, no pass is needed on those days. Other info: register for your free pass here, up to two weeks in advance. Print your email confirmation and take it to Bellevue Arts Museum when you visit. Washington Statue History Museum
Experience Washington State History for free through your library! Experience Washington State History for free through your library! KCLS and Washington State History Museum are partnering to offer complimentary admission to the museum. This museum pass allows entry for up to 2 adults and 4 children and is valid for a single use any time within 7 days of issuance. Washington State History Museum is located at 1911 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98402. The Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
